Sic Bo

Sic Bo, is a Chinese game that is played with three dice. It is a simple game of betting on the result on the roll of the three dice.
The game of Sic Bo as played in a casino used an electronic table with winning bets lighting up. The Dice are usually hidden in a plunger machine which is plunged 3 times prior to any bets being placed.
Wild Diamonds Fun Sic Bo is played slightly differently and is much more fun. Instead of the dice plunger, our players take turns at throwing the dice.

Don't worry if the layout looks a little confusing at first, it is very simple and all odds are displayed on the layout. It is a bit like playing Yahtzee, but its casino style.

Below is a brief description of how Sic Bo is played.

Number of Players:

There is no real limit to the number of players that are able to bet on Sic Bo. A Wild Diamonds Sic Bo tables will allow 10-12 guests to play comforatably around the table. A shelf is provided to place drinks, and chip racks are on the top of the table.

Sic Bo Objective:

It's simple, try to guess the dice roll when 3 dice are thrown. You can bet on one, two or all three of the dice results. Each time the dice are rolled, the dealer will take losing bets and pay winning bets.

How to Play

  1. Sic Bo is played on a table with various bets and their pictorial representations. Sic Bo has payouts ranging from even money (1:1) right up to 180 to 1 (180:1). This is one of the highest paying odds that you can get on a casino table.
  2. Players place the bet on the symbols on the table.
  3. After all bets placed on the table, Dealer announces NO MORE BETS and offers 5 dice to the player who is next to roll. The player will pick 3 out of the 5 dice and throw them towards the furthest end of the table ensuring all dice hit the rubber pyramid wall.
  4. When the rolling dice stop, the dealer declares the result and marks the winning combinations. (If one or more of the dice land on a chip the winning number is declared as the number that would have come up if the obstacle was not there)
  5. All Bets on winning Areas win based on the odds displayed on that Area.

 Bet Examples:

Players can place many kinds of bets. One can bet on any single number between 1 and 6.

  • If that single number appears once, the payout so 1 to 1.
  • If the number appears twice, the payout is 2 to 1.
  • If the number appears three times, the payout is 12 to 1.

Sic Bo bets can also be classified as Small bets and Big Bets. Small bets win if the sum of the dice ranges between 4 and 10. Big Bets are won if the sum of the dice ranges between 11 and 16. The payout is again 1 to 1.

Players can bet on the total of the 3 dice. The more common totals are in the middle and pay the least (6:1), the totals at either end are less likely to come up and pay much higher odds (up to 32:1).

Players can also bet on 2 dice combos, which means the 2 numbers picked must come up out of the 3 dice thrown, the payout is 6:1

The bets placed on doubles and triples mean the dice must land with the selected combination showing for the bet to win. A specific triple pays a masive 180:1.

All odds are displayed on the layout and are easy to understand.

Sic Bo is a game fun and easy to learn game where players can win a lot of money with a wide range of payouts.

Interesting facts: (useless information!!)

  • Sic Bo is known by various names around the world, Tai Sai, Chinese Dice and Big and Small. It is also called ‘Treasure of the Dice' in the Orient. This is one game that originates from ancient China, with the name actually meaning “dice pair”. (But don't we use 3 dice?)
  • When Sic Bo first started, the game was first played with the use of bricks that were tumbled between 2 plates and one extra overturned bowl. As time passed we reached the current version where we use a cage shaker and dice.
